Kussi Weiss belongs to the front ranks of German Sinti-Jazz musicians. The guitarist can already look back on numerous CD releases and international festival appearances. The highly virtuoso guitarist has long since developed his own unmistakable style, which elegantly combines Django's legacy with modern elements. Babik Reinhardt, the now deceased son of Django Rheinhardt, was completely enthusiastic when he saw the then just 22-year-old play at the legendary Django Festival in Samois-Sur-Seine alongside jazz greats like Bireli Lagrene and Stochelo Rosenberg in 1996 - so enthusiastic , that he brought him to the main stage the following year and caused Kussi's breakthrough. He was literally born with music - some of the most important representatives of German Sinti jazz came from the Weiss family. So it's no coincidence that he first came into contact with the guitar at the age of 10. A few months later he was already playing the rhythm guitar for his uncle Moritz Weiss, soon he was also on stage with the famous Martin and Haens'che Weiss, receiving lessons and suggestions from all sides. But soon the role of companion is no longer enough for him. Without knowing how to read music, but with a lot of wit and talent, he learned how to play the solo and at the age of 17 founded the "Kussi Weiss Ensemble". Accompanied by musicians who can follow his high level, he gives his first concerts as a bandleader and records his first album for Idol Records in 1996. With Tschabo Franzen on the guitar and long-time comrade-in-arms Dietmar Osterburg on the double bass, he has gathered two equal instrumentalists in his current trio, who effortlessly master the balancing act between faithfulness to style and modernity. Practically from the first minute, the original trio unleashes fireworks of joy in playing, virtuosity and, above all, rousing swing. It plays Django's music absolutely authentically and allows itself time and again forays into other musical realms, but just listen to it yourself...
